One Word, by MT Solutions, LLC · Effective August 1, 2026

The short version

One Word is a private journal. You sign in with Apple, your words sync to your own account, and only you can read them. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking across apps, and we never sell or share your data for marketing. You can delete your account and every word from inside the app at any time.

What we store

Your account: when you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier from Apple, and your name and email only if you choose to share them. This creates a Firebase Authentication account that keys your journal to you.

Your journal: the words you save, the date of each entry, the emotion category assigned to each word, and the monthly summaries the app builds from them (entry counts, emotion totals, and the written monthly reflection).

That is the full list. One Word does not collect your location, contacts, photos, browsing activity, or device advertising identifiers.

Where it lives

Your journal is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (Google Firebase), in the United States, under access rules that restrict every entry to your signed-in account. Data travels encrypted in transit. Google acts as our hosting provider and does not use your journal for its own purposes.

AI processing

Two features use an AI model, Claude by Anthropic, called through our own server function. When you save a word the app doesn't already recognize, the word alone is sent to be classified into one of seven emotion categories. When a month ends, that month's words are sent together so the app can write a two-sentence reflection.

These requests contain only the words and the month, never your name, email, or account identifier. Anthropic processes them as a service provider and, per its commercial API terms, does not use this data to train its models.

Word lookups

While you type a word, the app fetches synonyms and definitions from two public dictionary services, Datamuse and dictionaryapi.dev. The request contains just the word being looked up, with no account information attached.

What we don't do

No advertising and no ad networks. No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data for marketing. No reading of your journal by humans, except if you explicitly send it to us yourself when asking for support.

Deleting your data

Settings inside the app has a Delete Account action. It permanently removes your account, every entry, and every monthly summary from our servers. For safety, Apple requires a recent sign-in before account deletion; the app will walk you through it if needed.

You can also sign out at any time, which leaves your synced journal in place for when you return.

Children

One Word is rated 4+ but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
