Privacy Policy
Effective July 12, 2026 · Recap for iOS
The short version
Recap collects nothing. There is no account required, no server, no analytics SDK, and no tracking of any kind. Every recording you make is captured, processed, and stored only on your device.
Data we collect
None. Recap has no backend. Your recordings, their thumbnails, titles, and your settings never leave your iPhone. We cannot see, access, or recover your recordings — they exist only on your device.
Screen recording
Recording is performed by Apple's ReplayKit broadcast system. The captured video and audio are written directly to a file on your device. Recap never transmits your screen contents anywhere. iOS itself blocks the capture of protected content (such as FaceTime, phone, and Zoom call audio, and DRM-protected music) for your privacy — this is a system protection, not a Recap feature.
Microphone & camera
Microphone access is used only when you add live commentary or record a voiceover, and camera access is used only for the Reaction Cam. This audio and video is composited into your recording on-device and is never uploaded. You can decline these permissions and still record your screen.
Sign in with Apple
Signing in is optional. If you choose to sign in, Apple provides Recap with your name (and, if you allow it, a private relay email) purely to personalize the app and keep your Pro access across reinstalls. This identifier is stored in your device keychain. Recap has no server to send it to.
Subscriptions
Recap Pro is sold as an auto-renewable subscription through Apple. Purchases are handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, which processes anonymous purchase receipts to manage entitlements. This never includes the contents of your recordings. See Apple's and RevenueCat's privacy policies for how they handle purchase data.
Photos & Files
When you tap Save to Photos or Share, Recap hands the selected recording to iOS so you can save or send it. That action is initiated by you, and Recap only ever touches the specific file you chose.
Children
Recap is rated 4+ and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Changes & contact
If this policy ever changes, the update will be posted at this page with a new effective date. Questions: gomarcinai@gmail.com.
